“Continuing the Journey: My Second Curated Art Showing at the Winter Small Works Show & Sale”

I am thrilled to recount my experience at the “Winter Small Works Show & Sale” held at the Art Gallery of Greater Victoria. This marks my second curated art showing, where two of my pieces were selected: “Broad Street Victoria January 2021” and “Yates Street Victoria, January 2021.” One piece sold at the show, while the other was used on the marketing poster before being sold privately. The event was an incredible opportunity to showcase my work alongside other talented local artists.

The Art Gallery of Greater Victoria’s annual Winter Small Works Show & Sale is a must-attend event for art enthusiasts and collectors alike. Featuring works from over 70 local artists, this year’s Winter Small Works showcased an array of styles, mediums, and price points, offering something for everyone. After a year of virtual shows, it was a breath of fresh air to have the exhibition in person, displayed in the Massey Sales Gallery at the AGGV.

The Opening Reception on Saturday, November 20, welcomed guests with open arms, inviting them to enjoy the art, meet the artists, and celebrate the show’s opening from 10 am to 5 pm.

The event was a fantastic opportunity to engage with fellow artists and art lovers, allowing me to share my passion for painting and gain valuable insights from others in the local art community. It was an enriching experience that has motivated me to continue refining my craft and exploring new artistic horizons.

This annual event is a treasure trove of diverse artworks by local artists, and I am honored to have been a part of it.

About Knackers Yard

Hailing from Victoria, BC in Canada, Knacker’s Yard has been arranging and performing traditional Irish, Scottish, English and original music since 2013. Comprised of Bronwyn Churcher (fiddle, vocals) , Stephen Johnson (accordion, tin whistle, vocals), Jon MacDonald (guitar, vocals) and Cody Baresich (mandolin, vocals) and Shaun MacConnell (bódhran, bones and chimes), the group breathes new life into the Celtic ballad genre. Their playing flows effortlessly from the delicately woven intricacy of song accompaniment to the strong, driving pulse of dance music. With the unique blend of voices and instruments combined with their sympathy with the music’s origin and tradition, you have the exception rather than the rule among folk groups.
